Mini-Vacation in Richmond, VA

Last weekend, we visited my sister at her new apartment in Virginia. She’s in a really nice area of Richmond. It’s quiet and beautiful and full of old houses. Large streets, very little traffic, and extremely clean – it makes Philadelphia seem even more like a dump. The weather was so nice, we walked to a park and to dinner the first night we were there. It was a very nice mini-vacation.

While Virginia is much closer to us than my sister’s last apartment in North Carolina, it was still quite a long drive. If you don’t have the right car, the trip can really drain you (and hurt your back). I do not have the right car for road trips yet. I’ll have to keep looking.

For our dog, Lucy, it was also a very long drive. Before this 5 hour drive to VA, the longest she’s been in a car was to Lancaster, PA (about 1.5 hours). She actually did better on the way down than she did on the way back up. Lucy is nervous about everything and the inside of a moving car is probably her #1 fear. I don’t have pictures of Lucy from the trip to share with you, but I’m sure I’ll dedicate at least a few future posts to that dog.

One of the best photos I took of my sister, Leigh Anne.

I haven’t used my camera in a long time, so I took advantage of the new scenery as motivation to shoot. I got some pretty decent shots of my sister for her to use on her new blog. The rest were less inspired, but like I said, it’s been a long time since I last used a camera.
